Twenty members and friends of United Church BR have returned from a week in Breathitt County Kentucky. Thirteen high school youth including Lucas Ashby, Sara Daniels, Cecelia deBold, Emma Devries, Ryan Draves, James McMullen, Sean McMullen, James Morgan, Josie Sanders, Jack Somsel, Luke Somsel, Ethan Westerkamp, and Selena Wright along with their adult leaders including Briggette Ashby, Amy Buse, Leslie Daniels, Wayne McKay, John Morningstar, Bruce Morgan, and Kurt Somsel traveled June 10th through June 17th to Jackson, Kentucky for our mission project to make homes warmer and safer. We repaired roofs, installed new floor joists, installed girders to support floor joists, insulated, met and had fellowship with home owners, had time with other work groups to decompress and reflect on God’s message to serve all peoples and we had fun. There were snakes – see pictures, spiders – ask Sara, rain – see mud pictures, lots of work – see pictures, and time to see and participate in Jesus’ message to serve the least of all in His name.

Pictures are posted on the Church bulletin boards and on the Church website under Gallery – Appalachia Service Project.
